Message from the Headteacher
At Monkseaton Middle School, we are dedicated to fostering a nurturing atmosphere that perfectly balances support with the right amount of challenge for every child. Our commitment is to offer a broad and balanced curriculum that spans all year groups, ensuring each child has the chance to thrive and excel in their learning.
Our Ethos: Excel, Succeed, Thrive
Crafted by our vibrant community of pupils, staff, families, and Governors, our school ethos stands as a testament to our collective vision:
- We Excel – We are challenged to achieve academic excellence
- We Succeed – We have a growth mindset to be successful, even if we can’t do it yet.
- We Thrive – We feel safe and secure to allow us to learn.
Nurturing Bright, Creative, and Thoughtful Young Minds
Our pupils are the heart of Monkseaton Middle School. We provide a plethora of opportunities to enrich and enhance their talents both within the curriculum and through our extensive range of extracurricular activities.
Enrichment for All
All extracurricular activities at Monkseaton Middle School are accessible to every child, completely free of charge. These activities run from 8 am until 4:45 pm every day, ensuring that there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
Beyond the Classroom
We believe in expanding horizons and offer our children the chance to embark on residential trips both within the UK and abroad. From ski trips to cultural excursions, our pupils have the opportunity to experience learning in a diverse array of settings.
Monkseaton Middle School is more than just an educational institution; it is a nurturing environment where every member of staff is dedicated to creating an aspirational atmosphere for our pupils. According to our latest internal survey: 100% of our staff are proud to work at our school and affirm that we foster a culture that encourages calm, orderly conduct and aspires for all pupils to succeed.

Heartfelt Testimonials
We have received some touching testimonials that I would like to share with you:
- “Very pleased with how she has settled and how well supported the transition was. School is very much a community, and the wide range of additional activities is amazing. Thanks for making her first year such a positive, successful one, where she is valued and very much a name, not a number.” – A Year 5 parent.
- “This school went above and beyond for our child; she flourished whilst she was a pupil here, and both the academic and life lessons she learnt will stay with her for a very long time.” – A past pupil’s parent.
Governor’s Report Highlights
Recent governor’s reports have praised our school for its effective anti-bullying measures and inclusive environment:
- “Pupils say bullying rarely happens and when it does, it is tackled swiftly by teachers. Pupils understand what bullying is and feel comfortable telling teachers if they feel bullied, knowing that teachers will take action.”
- “Pupils said that all students were made to ‘feel welcomed and comfortable’ in school, regardless of differences.”
