What are KS2 SATs?
KS2 SATs are national tests taken by children in Year 6 in England. These tests assess pupils in English and Maths, and they help to measure the progress of pupils and the performance of the school.
Subjects Covered:
- English: Reading, Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling.
- Maths: Arithmetic and Reasoning.
Why are SATs Important?
- Assess Progress: They help to understand how well children have learned the KS2 curriculum.
- School Performance: They provide data on the school’s performance.
Test Format and Timetable
English:
- Reading Test: A single paper with questions based on three different texts.
- Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling Test:
- Paper 1: Short answer questions.
- Paper 2: Spelling test.
Maths:
- Paper 1: Arithmetic.
- Papers 2 and 3: Mathematical reasoning.
Timetable:
- Tests are usually held over four days in May.
- Specific dates and times will be communicated by the school.
